Cement, sand, gravel: calculating your job site needs

Misjudging cement, sand and gravel quantities is costly either way: too little, and the site stalls waiting for a delivery; too much, and cash stays tied up in stock exposed to the rain. The basic rule remains the standard volumetric mix (1 part cement to 2 parts sand and 3 parts gravel for ordinary concrete), adjusted to actual use. Ordering in bulk from a single supplier also simplifies tracking and invoicing for a job.
